ARTIST STATEMENT

i strive to express the ineffable and challenge the idea of the quiet and polite mind. my work is never made solely on my own. i am in constant collaboration with my mother, the first person to ever plant a seed, and every version of myself: past, present, and future. i am speaking back to the writing on a chalkboard i saw when i was 8 at the MoMA; with a piece of clay i have never touched; the paint i have felt on my skin; the scream i let out in a site of sacred connections. i am influenced by being born a woman and living life through a non gendered body that presents female. i am enamored by:
screaming,
crying,
making a mess,
cleaning the mess up,
making a mess again,
vulnerability in its various forms,
indecision,
overdecision,
instability,
second guessing,
wildness as a practice,
chaos as a lifestyle.
