BIO
Emma DeCaprio (they/them) is a movement and performance artist based in New York and Philadelphia. Emma began their dance training at Artistry Dance Project, where they studied under the direction of Kristina Leitenberger and Lori Lynch. At ADP, Emma performed in works by Tommy Scrivens, Christopher Ralph, Sean Rosanski, and Kevin Raponey, among others. Emma continued their dance training at the University of the Arts (UArts) in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where they recently graduated with a BFA in Dance and a minor in Film. At UArts they had to opportunity to participate in works by: Katie Swords Thurman, Paul Matteson, Merce Cunningham, Wayne St. David and Jordan Lloyd. Since graduating Emma has worked with Buglisi Dance Theater and Wendy Jehlen. Emma is interested in site specific exhibition, and their most recent work, "The Ineffible Fixation on the Melodromatic Experience" ,was presented on Duke's campus, and explored themes of melodrama, conflict, and performer as spectacle.
